Implementation of ASC 842 Leases, It’s Finally Around the Corner

The presentation will cover an overview of ASC 842 – Leases and will provide some insights as to considerations to be made in valuing leases, including discount rates and measurements periods.  We will also discuss the impact to the financial statements and related footnote disclosures and considerations of key financial and covenant ratios.

Clinton R. Langford, CPA

Clint serves as the accounting and auditing team leader for BKD’s Austin-San Antonio practice and is a member of BKD National Commercial Services Group, BKD National Construction & Real Estate Group and the firm’s employee benefit plan team.  He provides technical assistance with audit, attestation, and accounting issues with a service focus on technical and emerging accounting matters. 

 He has more than 14 years of experience performing audits for midsize to large businesses in the manufacturing, retail, distribution, and construction industries as well as other commercial entities and entities owned by private equity companies with complex equity structures.  In addition, he has substantial experience with alternative investments, including hard-to-value investments held by third parties.  Further, he has experience with employee benefit plan audits for defined contribution, defined benefit and health and welfare plans.  These include plans sponsored by public companies, master trusts and plans holding alternative investments.

Clint is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He serves on the board of the San Antonio Chapter of Construction Financial Management Association and is actively involved with the Front Nine Committee supporting The First Tee of Greater San Antonio

James is a member of BKD’s San Antonio audit team with more than 11 years of combined experience in the manufacturing, distribution, oil and gas, and telecommunications industries.  He is a thought leader in governance, risk, and control with detailed knowledge of internal audit best practices.

His knowledge of internal control extends to both business process and IT internal control considerations, shaped by his experience at a large international public accounting firm, a Fortune 500 distribution company, and a Fortune 1000 manufacturing company.  He has led engagements to design and implement systems of internal control at firms that were recently required to be compliant with SOX and to redesign business processes and controls for changes in accounting standards or supporting IT systems.

James is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, TXCPA, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and ISACA®.  He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), and he serves as a chapter board member, officer, and secretary of the San Antonio Chapter of the IIA.
